Hi all

have just picked this game up. My character is an Elven Ranger, level 6 (A
departure for me as I nearly always go with a Fighter). I am thinking of
multiclassing him, but to what? I haven't played a AD&D game since EOB1 and
2. It was the Death Knights & Dark Queen of Krynn before that (all on me
Amiga). I always had a Paladin in me party, a knight (mostly of the Rose)
and half-elf Fighter Mage (on account of not being able to ressurect Elfs) I
may be remembering wrong as its been 10 years at least ;)

Am trying to figure out the multiclass penalty, I will get a 20% exp penalty
on all classes unless I can balance them together?

So what could I go for?

Ranger/Wizard
Ranger/Cleric
Ranger/Fighter

Or just stick to Ranger? After I finish this (NWN) I am gonna look at
picking up BG2 and IWD2.

Thanks all for your time.

Elves can be resurrected now.

The question is really: what do you want to do that you can't with your
ranger? Pick something that provides something you're missing.

Right. Unless you pick Wizard, since that's the "favored class" for elves
and therefore not figured in.

If you're just playing the official campaign, you're selling yourself short.
Make sure to download some fan-created modules. Here's a good place to
start: <http://nwvault.ign.com/Files/modules/HallOfFame.shtml>.

And the NWN expansion is very good too.

^^^^

Is that the D&D spelling? (Me so confused with LOTR, D&D and Warhammer)

Am seriously thinking of going *rogue* for a level or 2

Why would you want to multiclass the ranger? He gets some healing spells,
can do summonsing and has an animal companion. Give him a few points in
lock picking and about 5 in disable traps and with the rogue ring from
Tommy he does OK at a fair amount of locks and traps. Most of the others
can be just bashed open.

He might not quite as stong as a fighter but against his Favored Enemy he
does more damage.

I gave my ranger disable traps skills as I got sick of Tommy and I prefer
Grimgnaw as a henchman. He kicks butt.

Yupsie. Multi some rogue in there as you get tumble, use magic device,
open lock & disarm trap! 2 levels is good as you only lose 1 AB.
