Golems in SoU (spoilers)

I'm on a quest to kill 10 golems.

I've killed 3, but only succeeded by taking advantage of holes in the
game engine.

Now, I have two of them breathing down my neck at once (oh-no) and no
way in sight of killing them.

I've read online that there's a ring that will help me to deal with
the golems, but, I can't find it.

I'm only able to do somewhere between 1 and 6 points of damage,
because my most effective weapon is a Greatsword +1. That 10 points of
damage resistence on their parts is tough. They easily do twice that
amount of damage and they hit 2-3 times for every one of my hits.

I'm a Paladin. I have the Holy Avenger, but, I'm too low a level to
use it. Otherwise, I have a +2 longsword, and that +1/+3 vs. undead
Morning Star.

I can run faster than they can, so, I can get away from the two over
the short term, but, eventually I'm going to have to face them again.
_WHAT_ do I do? (where is the ring? How do I get around the damage
resistence?)

If you can run faster than the golems can, then do so every time you are
fighting the golems and take a considerable amount of damage. Run away,
rest, come back, fight again, and repeat as necessary until they are gone.

What you need to do is turn off ILR and use the HA. (Why they make
level 14 items for a module that only takes characters to 12 or 13 I
don't know. But then, in the OC, they had an important item in Chapter
4 with a level 26 restriction. They later lowered it to 19, at the
same time as they made it almost impossible to finish above 17.
:sigh:) The HA is a +5 weapon for you, and you *need* it.

Good job... I managed to kill only one without the ring.

I forgot where the ring is.... but in the big room with the ring, there's a
golem you can talk to. Try to find such a room?

In that room, there's a locked room, which holds a sarcophagus with
the "friendly" golem's dead master, who happens to be the golem maker.
He has the ring that enables you to more easily defeat the golems.
Looting his tomb will make his servant golem hostile.

Unless he doesn't actually see you do it. Try approaching the door with
stealth, and closing it before taking the ring. (He's not that hard to
defeat, but I felt bad about hurting him after having talked to him.)
