Magical Longsword

I am in Chapter 4 and would like to transform my Magical Longsword + 2
into an Astral Blade. I've looked for a forge and found one at Durga's
place on the top floor of the Shining Knight Arms and Armour. But when
I put a diamond and a magical Longsword on the forge, nothing happens.
I am a cleric and my ac is 36, probably not high enough. I have a
reasonable amount of coin but can't find anything much to spend it on.
Any suggesions would be appreciated.

Although the description of a Longsword +2 is that the magical
properties give it a +2 modifier, it is not considered a magical
longsword for this task. What you need is a Longsword that has a
special name instead of +1 or +2. This is what I have had to do to
make the Astral Blade.

Are you in the right place? I believe that the two magical forging
opportunities are with Marrok in Chapter 1 and Barun in Chapter 3. Are you
sure you're in Chapter 4? If so, you've missed your chance to upgrade any
weapons.

Incorrect. Any +1 or better longsword can be used. There may be a
"named"
longsword in chapter 1 but I don't recall one.
I don't know. I am in chapter 1 and placed a diamond and a +1 sword in my
inventory, and the forger does not recognize it when he looks in the pack.

Is either one in a Bag of Holding? Are you in the correct store, talking to
the correct NPC?

I've found that the items can be in a bag of holding. However, whatever
weapon, etc. you're trying to upgrade cannot be equipped. If you're
holding/wearing it, it won't be seen.
That was it. The longsword +1 was equipped. I unequipped it at the forge,
used the diamond again, and now I have a new astral blade. Thanks!

Have you tried putting the items in the forge itself?

No, there are no bags of holding happening with this transaction.
I am in the correct store with Marrok, in the back of the Shining Knight
of
chapter 1.

Try placing the diamond and +1 sword in the forge. Then ask the dwarf to
create a new item for you. You should get a dialog that allows you to pay
500 GP. When the creation sequence is complete, the Astral Blade will be in
the forge.

I checked this out in the latest version (1.30) and it works.

Bev, Durga's forge isn't an option in chapter 4. Its only available in the
first chapter.

Be that as it may, to use the forge, place the items on the forge and then
speak to Durga. You'll then have the option to request an item to be
created and to pay the necessary price. The new weapon will be on the forge
when the creation sequence is finished.

As John Twernbold pointed out in another post in this thread, the forge in
chapter 1 is Marrock's. Barun is in chapter 3. I took a quick look at
chapter 4 in the toolset and found the forge is there but has no scripts
associated with it. So you're pretty much out of luck on the Astral Blade.

Thanks for the help, guess I am out of luck with the forge. I would
have tried to upgrade my Longsword earlier but couldn't find a magical
one.

You weren't able to find a magic longsword until Chapter 4? You should've
been finding them in Chapter 1...
