Ok, I am in the crypt and I have access to a room with alot of power
lines that center on an item in the middle. Cant get near it and the
riddle makes not sense. What is needed to get to the item? Do I need
to find an item in the crypt?

P.S.

I did not loot the tombs

IIRC you have to step on the tiles without electricity on the way to the
tomb, and then step on the tiles with electricity on your way back.

Correct. The tricky thing is that the electricity vanishes as soon as you
pick up the reward. So you've either memorized the path or are stuck.

IIRC if you forget which tile to use, just backtrack and place the cloak
onto the altar again... the lines will reappear.

Heh, actually I just run across the field. At most 5 tries and I'll succeed
without being teleported back. Since I'm using my OC chars in SoU, I don't
take any damage there anyway. Never tried with a new char, might not work.

You can manage with a new character. I got to the cloak by following
the intended route. However, not remembering how to get back, I just
ran off the left side of the board (facing the doorway you entered).
There's only a couple squares to cross and then you can walk along the
edge and not get zapped.

Very easy way to do it. If you line your character up just right you can
walk in a straight line right to the crypt by walking in between the
squares...and do the same thing on the way back. An you wont hit any of the
traps this way.

I couldnt figure the riddle out either and tried it this way.

Looting doesn't matter - just changes alignment.

You get the key for that "quest" as long as you help the spirit.

Just walk along the "lit" tiles, get the cloak and then get back.
I tend to always leave on the left side (left while facing back to the
entrance) and angling left-foreward, since that gets me through usually
without getting zapped.

If you're a Paladin you _REALLY_ want to do this quest, since Paladins
get a bonus.

I just found that out last night - Paladins are really favoured in SoU.
Beside the nice cloak, pallys get one good looking helm, one shiny armor,
one big shield. And not to mention the HA later on.

Though those items are quite heavy... esp. for my Sor1/Pal4/RDD2. I decided
to rely on the RDD bonus more, so the initial STR is 14 only, with more
points going into INT, DEX and CHA.

Ahh, I haven't played SOU again since I got HotU, but I can see how that
could be a problem.

I didn't find the armor particularly heavy, since it's pretty much the
same as anything in it's class you could buy.

The only reason I even played a Paladin was so I could get the Holy
Avenger I'd read was in SOU and which is only retrievable by a Paladin.
